"Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb!!"

Terrill trivia question - where does that line come from?

No bombs today - but a burglary suspect eluded police and then sprinted on to the Clifton campus!!  Fortunately Wednesday is our short day, and the students were mostly gone and the teachers were in grade level meetings.  The principal was in our meeting - 7th grade - and got a radio dispatch that sent her scurrying.  Next thing we knew, we were in lockdown!!

At least we had practiced it before, so we knew what to do!!  And we had snacks in our meeting.

About 45 minutes later, we were told to get off the campus quickly so they could focus on just finding the guy and not worrying about folks on the campus.  So I high-tailed it out of there.

Then when I got home, Harry got a text from Phoebe and Calvin and Agnes had been in lockdown all afternoon - those teachers did not get off so easy!  They were released around 4 I think.  The lockdown was a result of something happening at the park across from the school - which turned out to be fireworks and not gunshots.

But Agnes thought it was fun to do her work sitting on the floor.  It's good that kids are flexible - in more ways than one - I would hate to be doing my work on the floor.

Oh what is going on in this old world of ours??

The "Extra" Clifton Mile!!

There has been a  new award going around Clifton with the addition of a new principal last year - at the monthly faculty meeting, an award is given for "going the extra mile."  Then at the next meeting, the award is passed on - each recipient selects the next recipient.

Last May I received the award and today I passed it on - to Marcie Hoopes!

It is nice indeed to be recognized.  The new school year - all three days of it - has been pretty smooth.  The kids seem pretty well-behaved.  It could be a "honeymoon period" but it's been my experience that trouble-makers usually show their stuff almost immediately.

Let's hope that's still true.

And let's hope that a cooling trend materializes soon!!
