Catching up - as usual!!

Got back this week after nearly three weeks in Virginia with Eliza, Matt, and family - and new baby Polly!!  It was a nice time - I always enjoy just being part of the daily life of our children and their families.  And it is work - but as Beverly at SMCNS always says, "it's work worth doing!!"

But I had not finished up my advanced blog posting before I left, so here's a happy 15th anniversary shout out to Harry and Dawn - who celebrated in style at the U2 concert!

And happy 14th birthday to Henry - grandchild number 3 and the first boy in the roster.  I won't even mention that I just can't stop wondering where all the time is going!!

We are heading to Menlo Park for Karl's wedding - will be fun to see all of Alice's kids - and Phoebe and Hannah and Rhoda too!!  (Bonny and Bruce and crew are coming up too.)

Maybe I will remember to take photos!!

Happy day to Henry - latest teen on the Terrill Grandchildren Roster!!

A very special day when this little guy finally arrived.  Some drama preceded his arrival, but all's well that ends well!!

Probably my A Number One Fave Foto of the Hankster,

who just keeps growing and growing

into the wonderful young man he is today!!

Happy day to you Henry - and all year through!!  WE LOVE YOU!!!

Henry is turning 12!!

Henry is the first Terrill grandson - and his birth had a little drama attached to it.  We were so happy and excited to drive up to Concord and meet the boy!!  I still remember the excitement Dad and I felt.

He is 12 today!!  How can that be?  We are in Portland, celebrating with him, and we will share photos of our fun times.

But for now, I will say, with W.B. Yeats, "I sigh that kiss you, for I must own, that I shall miss you, when you have grown!"

10 years - 10 pictures - of our man Henry - double digits today!!

He is the first grandson - and has set a high standard for all the grandsons to follow. I love hanging out with Henry. I love having conversations with him. I love playing Golf and Mormon Poker with Henry. I love driving around Lake Oswego with Henry - having him know just where we need to turn. I love watching movies with Henry. I love talking about Star Wars and Harry Potter with Henry. I love sewing his Cub Scout patches on his uniform. I loved reading the Henry Huggins books to him one summer. I love doing Cub Scout projects with Henry.

(One of my favorite Henry stories: I was tending Henry and Calvin while Phoebe and David had a little getaway. They were getting ready to move from Davis to Oregon. The house was full of packed and soon-to-be-packed boxes. It was a little chaotic. I was going to take the boys for a walk - Calvin was little enough to need a stroller. But I couldn't get the stroller open. I tried and tried. Finally, in exasperation, I exclaimed to Henry, "How does your mom get this open?"

And Henry coolly replied, "With one hand.")

I love everything about Henry!! In fact, I love Henry!

And I can't believe he's in the double digits already! Yikes, before we know it, I'll be posting his Eagle Scout pictures!!

Blessings come to those who wait - and wait - and wait!!

Phoebe sent us this photo of Henry wearing souvenir tee shirt from the Cedar City Shakespeare Festival of long ago. She commented that she'd kept it for 7 or 8 years - guess we sent it to Henry when he was pretty young!! I'm sure it was the smallest size they had, and we couldn't resist it.

And isn't it worth the wait? You know, when it's just right, it's just right.

As I recall, Dad didn't dispute my contention that we should get it for Henry - but I suspect I thought he'd be into it sooner than 7 or 8 years!!

Ah, Henry, a king in your own right!!

Happy Birthday Henry!!

This continues to be my fave photo of Henry!!

Henry was the first Terrill grandson - and he still has a way with the ladies!!

We always have fun at the Fillmores - last April was no exception - and we're looking forward to more visits this summer.

We were pretty excited to get Henry here safe and sound.

If you don't know Henry, be sure to ask us to introduce you - you'll be a fan!!

Have a great day Henry - we love you!!

Count me in!

Henry and Grandma Mary must really be in tune with each other. He fractured his wrist on Monday as well.
Lucky for him, no stinky cast. He has a brace that he can take on and off. So swimming is still an option for these last weeks of summer!
