Remembering Jim

It's hard to believe that it's been 5 years since Jim died.  One night Harry and I were talking and as is often the case, Jim's name came up.  And Harry said, "Not a day goes by that I don't think about Jim."

He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, grandfather and friend.  We all miss him - but are grateful for good memories.

I wish it was more popular to comment on blogs and not just Facebook.  If you read this, share a memory of Jim!

Happy Birthday Uncle Jim!!

It's been over 4 years since Uncle Jim died. This photo was taken at Robin's wedding, about 3 months before his death. He looks happy and well. The way we want to remember him.

Harry often comments that a day does not go by that he does not think about his brother. Jim was a fine man - we would all do well to remember him often.

Remembering Jim

Today is Jim's birthday - and we remember him fondly!

Harry says he misses Jim every day - two brothers with a very close bond - but we all find comfort in the fact that we are a forever family.

Who knew, so long ago, that there would come a day when they both would not be together here.

It turns out that today is my Uncle Harry's birthday also - my mom noted that having her surgery on her brother's birthday was a comfort - big brothers are good at that!

Happy remembering today - especially about big brothers!

The picture that does say it all!

Bonny and Eliza suggested that this picture really does say it all - and I think so too. At the risk of sounding "cheesy" - a picture does help us learn. This one hangs on our bedroom wall - and it's message often encourages me, when I'm feeling discouraged. Jim's trials are the focus right now - and we pray daily for him and his family - but we all have struggles that can overwhelm us. Focusing on what really matters can help us survive and even grow from those struggles.

Not a new concept I know, but one I'm learning from right now!
