Summer vacation - at least summer vacation with Hannah and Rhoda - is drawing to a close. Last week we left for a little road trip up to visit with Melanie and her handsome new son Seth!
Other friends stopped by - it was a nice couple of days in the much cooler than LA East Bay!! We enjoyed that too.
Walked the grounds of the Oakland Temple - but I forgot my camera!! Nothing quite as nice as holding a sweet new little bambino - and I got quite a few photos of him!
The "cousin Karls" was our home base - we thank him for his generosity - and a nice dinner with him and Laura.
Came home to Raingutter Regatta at the Stake Pack meeting - always a fun summer event.
We will miss these lovely mornings with Rhoda - and Hannah - it's been a nice interlude.
For a fun finale, we went to the Annenberg Community Pool in Santa Monica. What fun - check it out if you are in the LA area. And hanging out with the Bolanders is always a guarantee of a great time.
The pool is the original pool - restored - from the Marian Davies mansion - her "beach house" on PCH back in the 20's and 30's. Beyond the umbrellas is the beach.
The mansion was torn down a few years ago - but the "guest house" - all 7,000 square feet of it - remains - and is lovely to walk through.
Hannah and I - and Rhoda too - have had fun checking items off Hannah's bucket list for the summer in LA. I am heading to VA tonight for some time with Eliza and family - but will join up with Hannah and Robbie later to check out Philly, their new home.
A big thank you to Bonny for her willingness to join us so often.
It's been a non-stop kind of summer - when I return, the Bolander girls will join me for a few days while their folks have a mini-vacay - and then Harry and I head to Utah for Jesse's wedding. And then school starts!
Stay tuned!
