Disaster City!!

I could post photos if I felt like digging through the chaos that is Eliza's basement, but I will just use words this time - when I get home, I will show pictures!! (Her basement is not normally chaotic, but right now it is!! Read on to find out why!)

We are here at Eliza's and having a fine time. This a.m. I trundled into the playroom, wondering why it sounded like the washer was going - since I'd done all the laundry the day before. Then I noticed that my feet were very wet!! The basement was flooding!

I confess I yelled. Some accused me of screaming, but it was just a loud shout! I did feel the need to get everyone's attention!!

It turned out to be the water heater - it had "burst!" Was I ever glad that Dad was here too - Eliza immediately started calling for recommendations on plumbers, etc. - and got answers back this evening!! While she was calling Matt and others, Dad ripped up the carpet, pulled back the pad, took off the baseboards, shut off the water heater, disconnected the power to the water heater, rented fans to dry out the floor and priced new water heaters! He has put in a long day, but he and Matt have installed a new water heater. (Actually he shut off the valves to the water heater first!!)

Now we wait for the carpet guy tomorrow a.m.

Maybe in a few years, this will be a great story to tell. For now, it's a pretty big inconvenience - but we are all grateful for Dad and his special skills!!
