Hannah did us all proud today - 4:49 at the Sun Trust Rock 'n Roll USA Marathon in Washington DC.

Think of her, think of her fondly

While you're getting ready to celebrate the Ides and/or St. Patrick's Day tomorrow, think of Hannah who is going to be running her marathon tomorrow morning sometime in the ballpark of 8 a.m. to 12:30 Eastern time!

In case you've never seen Hannah run a race, it is a treat. She is very fun to watch and it's impossible not to get into the spirit of the occasion. She has worked hard getting ready for this race and I know she's going to do great and finish strong. Yay Hannah!

The Anatomy of a Runner!!

So, here's Dad right after the race. The smile is deceptive - he was in pain!! His legs were cramping and he had to keep moving! Spectators at marathons are wonderful - they congratulate anyone wearing the medal of completion - and Dad would have to grimace as he acknowledged the greetings as we walked to where I'd parked the truck - which was right by the temple visitor's center. You could watch the muscle cramping!!

So we got home - and I actually went swimming since it was a pretty hot day. Dad soaked in a cold tub - a sure remedy for cramping muscles.

As I headed out for Albertsons for some lunch fixings, Dad was snoozing away. I had asked him what he wanted to do about lunch - and he said he could eat - but didn't want to go anywhere!

He revived pretty quickly - it's actually amazing to watch the effects of carbs and hydration on a depleted runner.

He was pretty stiff on Monday, but each day he gets better - and is planning to run tomorrow a.m. - if the rain lets up that is!

When I get the race photos from Marathon Photo, I'll post them - that is if I can get my scanner to work.

More late-breaking news on the racing front!!

Got The Spectrum at breakfast this a.m. - that's the local paper here in Washington County - and Dad placed 7th in his age group - 7th out of 63. Not bad for an old guy!!

He was 1102 overall - out of 6,000+ - once again, not bad for an old guy!! (When I was at the finish line and I would say that I was waiting for my husband to finish, I got a lot of "Your husband?" Does that mean I'm looking old too??)

Don't answer that!

The latest from Color Country!!

Late-breaking news: Dad needed 4:15 to qualify for Boston again. He ran 3:47. Good time - hard race!! His legs were cramping after mile 16. And it's pretty hot here today.

But it's over!!

Photos when we return - such as they are - he streaked across the finish line so fast, the photo I took was of someone else!!

Off to Color Country!!

In this family, when you say St. George, all kinds of memories are conjured up.

Posing with the finisher!!

Laughing at the signs on the Mayor's Walk.

Cheering at the finish line.

But, then again, you might think of hanging out in the condos with family.

Or diving at the pool.

St. George is still part of the Terrill lore - wish Dad luck as he heads out to qualify once more for Boston!!
