Happy 29th to Noah!!

Happy day today to Noah - 29 and counting!!  Always such a cute little guy!!

And is buddy Andrew - a big part of Noah's childhood.

Dad was bishop, Mom was YW President - that meant Noah went to all the youth activities with his sisters - well before he was 12!

Always the ladies man - especially with Aunt Donna!!

Holding forth - as he is wont to do!! (With Paul and John Watson!!)

Didn't "do" commencement - but did graduate!!

Loves his Grandma Mary.

And his Momma!

And his Grandma Helen.

A great little family of his own!!

Who knew? 29 years ago?

What we do know - Happy Birthday to you Noah - and may the year ahead be the best ever!!

We love you!

Happy Birthday Noah!!

Noah was a pretty good little baby - mostly mellow - but then, he got lots of attention!!

Even though both of our hair styles changed, the shirt didn't.

That's something Noah does - hang onto fave shirts!!

And we used to hang out at YW activities too!!

How can this little guy be 28??

Happy day to you Noah - may the year ahead be the best ever!!

Baby Boy Terrill

Noah as a newborn - a happy baby, and one who was loved by everyone.  He also went without a name for 3 weeks.  I was ready to agree to anything, but every time I said, "Okay, that's fine," Harry would pause and say, "well, let's think on it some more."

Noah has a 3 page birth certificate as a result!!

And Noah on Sunday the 11th as we celebrated his birthday and Dawn's - and Mother's Day.

Where do the years go??

A birthday/Mothers Day/visiting relatives from Kansas kind of weekend!!

We hosted the "Golden Girls" Saturday night - a wonderful time was had by all.  As usual, I learned a thing or two about my mom that I hitherto had not known!!  You start asking questions, and the answers surprise you!

How fun it was to have Joey and Mercy stop by to say hi.  They were in town for a family wedding on Mercy's side.  Wish we could see this cute couple more often!!  Since Mercy is from RedWing, we had some Minnesota and Betsy-Tacy talk too!!

Sunday was Noah's birthday - and Monday was Dawn's - so we combined all the celebrations.  Did not have a Mimi Cake - Bruce asked if they had "fallen out of favor!"  I just ran out of energy and time I guess.  But we did have a delicious Chocolate Tunnel of Fudge cake and a Red Velvet Cake - with plenty of candles to make the little kids happy!

Enjoyed getting to know Leslie, a friend of Noah's.  She was an especially big hit with the grandkids - I am always impressed by someone who can communicate and connect with little kids.

Margie and I collaborated, and the food was fine - and plentiful.  We didn't even mind the heat so much!!

The heat did not deter the tetherball players!!

Bonny was busy with laundry - since their washer is on the fritz - with a part en route that may slow things down!!

I did not get photos of everyone who was there - but did think to snap a photo of Grandpa and Ara.

Some intense "playground" discussion I think!

As usual I did not get myself in a photo - or Harry the Son - but we were there and we had a great time.  Some lovely gifts were exchanged.

Dad is determined to bring me into the 21st century - when he couldn't persuade me to take over his old iPhone, he got me a dock for it - so now I can listen to music whenever I want.  And he very thoughtfully made a large number of playlists from the cd's is especially enjoy - he's one observant man!

The California-shaped cutting board is from Bonny and fam - you can't see it, but there's a heart cut out where Monrovia is!!  A very nice addition to the kitchen countertops!!

The only thing that could have made the day better would have been to have our far-flung family members with us!!

Happy Birthday Noah!!

Happy Birthday to you, Noah.  It was Mother's Day 26 years ago - and you weren't here yet - not a surprise in the Terrill household, since all but Hannah chose to ignore their due dates.

But we were excited when you came - and still excited to have you in our family.

We'll post photos from the celebration today - hopefully we don't all melt first!!

(The day you came home from the hospital 26 years ago it was gray and cloudy and cool!!)

The story that always gets told about Noah's birth is the fact that he was nameless for three weeks while Dad and I tried to agree on a name!  (Mostly we looked for one we could both agree on - I had a fave but it didn't make the cut!!)

And an indelible memory of mine is that on the first Sunday you were home, Arlene Miller dropped by with a lemon meringue pie!!  It was yummy!!  Just what a new mom needed!

Happy Day to you - and all year through!

The weekend that was!

It has been a crazy, busy weekend - but a fun one!!

We started out celebrating Noah's 24th birthday with dinner at Haiku Kitchen - good eats if you haven't tried it - and then went to the $3 movie at the Academy - a good deal!! And the movie was funny - I don't think I would have even thought of going to it, but I did find myself laughing a lot!!

Then we came home and packed - and discovered that Blogger was down! So I didn't get to post about celebrating Noah's birthday, or paying tribute to Dawn on her big day. I haven't even gotten the report on it yet - we just got home this afternoon.

And Hannah has a great report on her blog, so check it out, if you haven't already.

After arriving in DC, we went to Eliza's for dinner and conversation - and fashion discussions for the next day, of course!! If you look closely at the above shot, you can see Hannah, marching in to her convocation - she's turned around - apparently looking for us. (We found each other and waved vigorously!!)

It was more efficient to photograph the jumbo-tron than to try to photograph the actual event!!

There was a reception at the Museum Studies offices, and after the convocation, Hannah took us to the Gelman Library where we could admire firsthand the exhibit she had spearheaded.

We were indeed feeling like proud parents!!

Next day was commencement - we spent Saturday night at Hannah and Robbie's - they generously gave up their bed and slept on their blow-up bed in the living room. It was cozy and snug, I will say that!

Commencement was outside on the National Mall - and rain had been predicted - Saturday was rainy, but that program was inside.

Although Sunday dawned gray and cloudy, the sun came out and blue skies prevailed. We sat on park benches under the trees on the side of the main event - there were big screens and some pretty effective loud speakers, so we didn't miss anything - just sitting in the sun!!

The university sent Hannah an email Saturday night telling her to be prepared for rain. And she was!!

And even though we didn't have any rain, the umbrellas kept Theo and Ida happy as could be!!

We hiked to and from commencement - since parking is such an issue - it was about 3 miles total, so I got my exercise!! Hannah and Robbie had planned a picnic, but with the weather forecasts, ended up postponing. Some of their local friends came by and we had cake and other munchies.

Then it was back to VA and getting ready to leave this morning. Our flights were uneventful - just the way you like them. I got one book read, watched several episodes of House, and read three magazines.

All was in good shape at home - I even have the laundry here caught up!!

It's back to work!!

But it was wonderful to spend time with family, celebrate Hannah's achievement, and get away from the routine for a little while!!

And it's going to be a busy summer!!
