Only in America!!

We all met up at the American Girl doll store in Santa Monica on Saturday.  I had never been - if they'd had this stuff when I was a girl, I would have coveted most of it - and probably owned none of it!!

We enjoyed dinner at the American Girl Cafe - someone has nailed this whole concept - and they haven't left out one single detail!!

An American Girl VW bug - all your own!!  Miss Ara, proud owner of a driver's license, thinks it looks like fun!

A photo op with one of them - not sure of what her name is!!

Of course, David gets Husband of the Year for arranging for Phoebe to fulfill her many years longing for an American Girl doll of her own by finding one waiting for her at the main desk!!

As the mother of 4 daughters and grandmother of 8 girls, I feel like I'm just going to get more familiar with this place!!  I recall when the first American Girl catalog came to our house.  I thought the whole concept was lovely - but pricey.  Little did I know that my girls would figure out how to persuade me to help them get one of their own!!

This Christmas, when Eliza unpacked her old Samantha doll from my top shelf, she decided to give it to Ida.  When she got it, Ida said, "Is this an American Girl doll?"  (Eliza didn't think she even knew what they were!)  When Eliza said yes, Ida was in heaven!!

I guess if you're not a doll lover this will all sound nuts to you.  But if you are a doll lover, I don't need to say anymore!!
