Happy 5th Birthday to Porter

I love all of our grandchildren. I love them because they are the children of our children. And I love them because they are children of God.

But each one of them has their own personality - and that personality is defined by certain traits and characteristics. And some of those traits and characteristics are so endearing to me.

Porter has a certain "joie de vivre" that cannot adequately be put into words. You can say, "Porter, do you want to go to the store with me?" and he says, "Sure!" (Or sometimes, "You bet!") And you know that he really does want to go with you - and loves you for asking him!

This is the cake from his birthday party on Saturday. It's an Army tank - the boys had Army insignia tatoos, camouflage face paint, Harry was the drill sergeant who made them do jumping jacks and led them in tug-of-war, and they threw "grenades" (aka water balloons) at targets and at each other! Lots of "boy" fun.

This is the pinata.

And here's the birthday boy.

It's great to be five Porter - enjoy your year!!

The weekly trip to the library (with David)

Calvin loves bags. Although you have to be careful and check what he puts in his bag before we leave. It's amazing what I find in there.
Calvin also loves the library. It's a good thing David takes the boys every Tuesday evening while I stay home and take a bath. I love that man.
Calvin is also very fond of his Crocs. I am, too. He can put them on himself. Could I ask for anything more?
