Simple Machines

I taught 4th and 5th grade science when I first started teaching. I remember teaching "Simple Machines." I certainly never thought I would see a time when one of them played such a significant role like they did in the mine rescue.

I'm currently part of a collaborative teaching progam at school, with the 8th grade science teacher - I told him we ought to use this as an object lesson: Why you need to learn science!!

It's all pretty incredible!

"Chi, chi, chi, lay, lay, lay, Chile, Chile, Chile!!!"

It's a new cheer we'd never heard before - but it was pretty exciting.

Dad and I got caught up watching the rescue of the Chilean miners. It was certainly compelling! And gratifying to see how working together, miracles are wrought!
