Back to Back Birthdays!

Baby Harry made his appearance on the 28th of November - and his parents and family were living with us at the time while their house was being remodeled.

 

It was fun to have a baby in the house again!

 

And I was delighted to find a little outfit that his dad had worn - so we could do the photo thing - but alas, I did not have a photo of his dad in the outfit.

 

And then Isla was due - and her mom was hoping that the birthdays would not be on the same day.

 

It's tough enough to have all the birthdays in a 3 months time span - on the same day might be tough!

 

So Isla arrived on the day after - perfect timing!!

Love both these kiddos - and it's fun to have so much celebrating going on!!

Haapy day to Rhoda!!

I have been privileged to spend stretches of time with Rhoda and it's been great! She is a delightful child - creative and eager to learn. She is also loving and compassionate - it is going to be a blessing to watch her grow and mature!!

She is across the ocean - enjoying a European life for a year - and we are all excited to see her and her family at the holidays.

Playing Catch up!

I am pretty behind! September 28th and 29th found us celebrating Taylor and Ella - among the lovlies in the Terrill family.

 

Bonny is ending a decade - and looking forward to a new one! Should be exciting. Here comes Bontober!

 

Deacon was so excited for his birthday - looks like he's always been excited about birthdays!

 

Once again we paused and remembered out sweet baby Jonah.

 

Phoebe and Porter - birthday buddies!  Sharing the spotlight with Calvin, whose birthday ends up the month of October for us.

Hopefully I will be a little more on the ball with November!

 I think this is a middle school photo - Harry was always a happy kid - and seemed to enjoy school most of the time.

And he graduated - from college too - and got a master's degree also.

Oh, my, I am behind!! After Noah's birthday, we celebrate Dawn - and continue to be grateful that Harry found her and had the good sense to hang on to her!!

 

The 19th is my mama's birthday - our third year without her with us!  We miss her, of course, but treasure the many years we had with her.

 

I always recall Betsy's birthday - because she missed mine by a day! When I would tell Grandma Stevens that Alice missed being born on her birthday by just one day, she'd say, "Might as well be an inch as a mile. She still missed it!"

 

Roseann and I share a birthday - same day, same year! The original Birthday Buddy!

 

Frankie's birthday is today - he's 4! And talking about Birthday Buddies, little Lee Lawrence Terrill made his debut on Grandma Mary's birthday! 

May continues to fill up with birthdays - at last count, there were 48 on my Birthday Calendar!!

I am indeed behind the 8 ball on the birthday acknowledgements - one in March - our own Keesa Rogue! So happy she was part of the package with Taylor!

 

Esme is a sweetheart indeed - love her spunk - and her voracious reading habits!! She is growing older - how can that be??

I am not much of a blogger anymore - I like doing it, I just forget to do it!

Anyway, don't want February to go by - which it already did - without remembering Pop!!

 

A good man - and I was fortunate to get to know him as he was "mellowing out" so my interactions were all warm and good.

Another fave photo - after a ballet recital, we went to their house - and we were locked out - waiting for Bonny or Bruce - so Ara wasted no time in engaging Grandpa in a game!!

Love that girl - but why am I calling her a girl?  She's a beautiful young woman!!

Birthday Buddies!

It was just a year ago - yesterday - that I was in Redwood City for a fun stay to help when Ralph was born. And it seems like yesterday! Time always flies in the face of the growth of these wee ones!

 

And three years ago I was in Virginia, helping after Polly was born.  

I have so enjoyed retirement - which allows me to stay for longer visits with new babies. 

And I love that we have a couple of "birthday buddies" in the family!!

Polly and Ralph are wonderful additions to the grandchild roster!

It was a great day when Bruce joined our family - he set the gold standard for sons-in-law - and we can't imagine the family without him.

Browsing through the old blog - which doesn't get much attention from me or anyone else actually - and realized that I had missed posting on Keesa's birthday!!

She came for a birthday weekend and we had a great time. She is the best little guest! And fun to hang out with.

So grateful to have her in our lives!!

Missing Ry!

February 22nd is Ry Nebeker's birthday. Ry has been gone for 3 years now - we miss him still. He was pretty much always "larger than life" and so his absence seems to stand out.

In 1990 and 1992, we camped in Ashland OR with the Nebekers  - it was a lot of fun - we still share the memories.

Thankfully his paintings and prints are all over our house, so he's always with us!

Happy Birthday Pop!

Today is Grandpa Terrill's 102nd birthday - and I recall a birthday celebration for him almost 40 years ago, right after we moved her from Utah.

 

I made him a wool shirt - just like the shirt I'd made for Dad a few years earlier.

 

Harry insisted that I needed to make it large - but it was too large.  It was going to be quite a job to take it in.  I think we ended up giving it to Ernie, because it fit Ernie.

But Grandpa was very gracious - I know he appreciated the thought and the effort.
