40 years ago today, this little munchkin made her somewhat tardy appearance - but she was certainly worth the wait!! As Dad and I were driving to St. George on Friday, I said that I was stumped about what to get Bonny for her birthday, since she pretty much gets herself what she wants and needs - like most of us these days. Then I said that I'd thought I'd do a post on her birthday listing 40 Things I Love About Bonny. I told him maybe he could help me and we'd then call it 40 Things We Love About Bonny!!
(You need to know that Dad has a little idiosyncrasy about people who say "my kids" instead of "our kids" or "my daughter" instead of "our daughter.")
So here goes - and there won't be photos to go with every one - in fact, I wanted to scan some heretofore unscanned photos into the mix, but the scanner is being difficult - and Dad's not home to solve the problem for me.
So just enjoy these few photos - which you've seen before - and maybe share with Bonny what you love about her yourself!
1. We love that she was the first - and still is a pioneer - best oldest child ever - setting a great example of love and concern always.
2. We love that she loves her name as much as we do.
3. We love that spoken by a Scot, her name has an incredible lilt - just like her!
4. We love that she found and married Bruce!
5. We love that she - and Bruce - have four beautiful girls - the Little Women!!
6. We love that she stuck it out and got her degree from UCSB. (Thanks to Bruce too!)
7. We love her unstinting support for Bruce and all he does.
8. We love that she still loves "Salt-o-Meal!" (Malt-o-Meal to the uninitiated!)
9. I love her appreciation for American Girl Dolls, Betsy-Tacy (thanks Karen!), and Little Women.
10. We love her excellent taste and style!
11. We love that she is still the Noodle Queen!
12. We love that she is a great driver.
13. Dad especially loved that she asked him to dance at Youth Conference!
14. I especially love that she wanted me to make her wedding dress.
15. And I love that she looked like Marilyn Monroe in it!
16. We love that she believes in Cousin Camp.
17. We love that she was born on Conference weekend - and waited to come until everyone had gone.
18. We love that she has real blonde hair!
19. We love her laugh!
20. We love her smile!
21. We love that she calls her family Team Bolander!! (As in "Team Bolander, 5 minutes and we're loading up!")
22. We love that she and Bruce chaperoned Phoebe's 8th grade dance, subbing for us, the year Grandpa Terrill died.
23. We love that she is fearless.
24. We love that the temple is a part of her family's life.
25. We love that she "embraces the moment!"
26. We love that she is a reader.
27. We love that she loves music.
28. We love that she loves to dance.
29. We love that she has always embraced technology in a good way.
30. Dad loves that she drives a Mercedes.
31. I love that she loves aprons almost as much as I do.
32. We love that she brought Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies into our lives 35 years ago.
33. We love that she makes them still in a Bosch and has taught her girls to make them too!
34. We love that she wanted to go to school in California so she could still be part of the growing up years of her younger siblings.
35. We love that she is equally proud to be a Terrill and a Bolander.
36. I love that she has bold and distinctive handwriting.
37. We love that she still values and maintains a relationship with her friends from high school.
38. Dad loves that she loves and appreciates good ice cream!
39. We love that she loves all the Grandmas in her life. (Including Grandma Mary, Grandma Helen, Grandma Connie, Grandma Dorothy, and Bamam!)
40. We love how she always says, "Whatever brings you joy," because she has certainly brought joy to our lives!!
