A little news from the past!

Not sure why finding this clipping was so very fun for me.  I don't think I've ever seen it - but it has obviously been around for awhile!!

Click on it to enlarge and then read it - the year was 1940!!

(And I confess to a bout of frustration with my scanner! We do what we can!)

Flashback Friday and Throwback Thursday all rolled into one!!

It was 49 years ago at this time that I was in France, attending the University of Grenoble as part of a BYU Study Abroad program.  I'm shown here with Gloria Anderson - we met up on this trip and had some great times together - I have no idea where she is now - and with a name as common as hers, it might be tough to track her down.  There are good reasons to stay in touch with folks who are part of your lives.

I think this is Gloria, leaning out of our hotel room in Paris.  We left in January of 1966, and spent 2 weeks in Paris before heading on to Grenoble.

During Spring Break, we traveled to Italy, Belgium, Spain, and Holland - and I hung out a lot with Lynn and Pattie - both of whom I still keep track of!

The trip was a great experience in my life - one that was life-changing in some ways.  I will have to re-read my journal from that period and do some reflecting!!

Another weekend races by!! Mostly unphotographed too!

Monday is Keesa's 5th birthday, and she celebrated today.  The little boy sitting next to her is Taylor's little brother Robert - and it was his 2nd birthday last week, so they had a combined celebration.  Water balloons and water pistols were the order of the day - went well with the heat!

Noah did a great job doing pinata duty - there were two pinatas so everyone was happy to join in!

Every time I tried to get a photo of Keesa with her cake - without the gum in her mouth showing - her gum showed up!!  We are going to chalk it up to reality - the gum from the pinata was a big hit!

It was nice to meet Taylor's family - her mom, her grandma, her aunt, and her cousin - among others.  Good food, good company, good times!!

Now on to the week ahead - hopefully it will cool off!

Last weekend - hurry, before this weekend starts!!

Esme' came for her Grandma's Birthday Weekend, and as usual we had such a fine time we forgot to take photos!!  We spent Friday night teaching her how to play Chicken Foot and she was addicted!!  We had a rousing session.  On Saturday, we went shopping - which is always fun - even browsed a used book store!!  Then we had manicures - de riguer for Grandma's Birthday Weekends of course!!

On Sunday, Esme' invited Eve, and Eliza and Charlotte Gray for lunch.  Ara and Ella had arrived the night before - after a rousing evening at the stake dance here in our locale.  They all had healthy appetites - it's a good thing I'd gone to the store the night before - I had forgotten about the "hollow leg" aspect of teens!

Noah and Taylor dropped by too -- it was a regular full house!!  (Which I love!)

Keesa certainly enjoyed having so many big girls to give her attention - this was a rousing session of Harry Potter UNO!

Lest you think the teens had all the fun, Harry and I enjoyed helping Dick and Toni Monson celebrate their 50th at a lovely party their kids hosted.  It was fun to see some old friends - and to meet some new ones.

I think I over-indulged on the Hershey Kisses with almonds though - chosen I am sure for their gold foil wrappers.  Did they know I have a terminal weakness for those nuggets??

More action coming up!!

The week that was once more!

It's been a busy week, and I don't have one photo to prove it.  And the Cousin Karls always says that every blog post needs a photo.  So here's a photo of Karl.  And we did get the "Save the Date" card for his wedding to Laura in May.  It 's going to be a busy spring too!

Harry was busy getting ready for Stake Conference - he was in charge of Saturday night and also spoke on Sunday.  He was also busy with work, his mom, and getting our brand new shower repaired - it's a long story - once it's done, I will tell it! (this photo is not recent - it's maybe 2 Christmases ago.)

It's March - which means Pi Day, St. Patrick's Day, and the Ides of March. Not to mention a myriad other calendar items.  I'm pretty sure we won't be doing an Ides party again this year - but I will post old photos from previous events and you can reminisce!!

The Stake Presidency wives rotate some dinner and meeting refreshment assignments - and this time I was dinner Saturday night and refreshments Sunday.  All went well - I was pleased with my efforts too - and didn't feel overwhelmed.  Always nice!

And I got a new calling - Stake Camp Director - and we had our first Camp Meeting Sunday night.

I will keep you posted on that!!

I'm subbing every day this week - but it's a daily assignment that ends at 12:30 and it's ELD - the one class has 17 students and the other 3 have 5 students.

I'm enjoying it!
