Oh Happy Day - to Miss Annika!

I so vividly remember Annika's birth.  Bruce called to tell Ara the news that they had a new baby sister - they hadn't known ahead of time - and Ara said, "Now we are our own Little Women!!"

Three Terrill grandkids were born that year - Annika lead the parade - followed by Porter and Calvin.  It's fun to watch all three of them grow and mature.

She may be the youngest of 4 girls, but she is definitely her own person - and a wonderful little person at that.

Happy day to you Miss Annika - entering the double digits - and birthday buddies with Harry Potter!

Wise words

Included in Ida's prayer at FHE tonight: "Help us to remember the things we don't want to forget."

At first thought, it seems kind of obvious.  But if you think about it, there are many things in our lives that we realize are important, and we don't want to forget them.  But then life interferes and we get caught up in all the details of life - and often forget those things that we really don't want to forget.

When we get married, we think we want to always treasure and value one another.  But the years go by and we sometimes remember and the slights or faults or mistakes instead of all the good things about our spouse.  We can do the same with our children and other loved ones.

We can be excited about our job or school or a trip - but when the plane is delayed or we have a test we are not prepared for, we can forget that we were excited to take this trip or that we really want to pursue higher learning.

I'm going to try "to remember the things I don't want to forget."

Merrily we roll along!

Summer vacation - at least summer vacation with Hannah and Rhoda - is drawing to a close.  Last week we left for a little road trip up to visit with Melanie and her handsome new son Seth!

Other friends stopped by  - it was a nice couple of days in the much cooler than LA East Bay!!  We enjoyed that too.
Walked the grounds of the Oakland Temple - but I forgot my camera!! Nothing quite as nice as holding a sweet new little bambino - and I got quite a few photos of him!

The "cousin Karls" was our home base - we thank him for his generosity - and a nice dinner with him and Laura.

Came home to Raingutter Regatta at the Stake Pack meeting - always a fun summer event.

We will miss these lovely mornings with Rhoda - and Hannah - it's been a nice interlude.

For a fun finale, we went to the Annenberg Community Pool in Santa Monica.  What fun - check it out if you are in the LA area.  And hanging out with the Bolanders is always a guarantee of a great time.

The pool is the original pool - restored - from the Marian Davies mansion - her "beach house" on PCH back in the 20's and 30's.  Beyond the umbrellas is the beach.

The mansion was torn down a few years ago - but the "guest house" - all 7,000 square feet of it - remains - and is lovely to walk through.

Hannah and I - and Rhoda too - have had fun checking items off Hannah's bucket list for the summer in LA.  I am heading to VA tonight for some time with Eliza and family - but will join up with Hannah and Robbie later to check out Philly, their new home.

A big thank you to Bonny for her willingness to join us so often.

It's been a non-stop kind of summer - when I return, the Bolander girls will join me for a few days while their folks have a mini-vacay - and then Harry and I head to Utah for Jesse's wedding.  And then school starts!

Stay tuned!

Happy day to Sully the Monkey!

I am in Palo Alto with Hannah and Rhoda - having a little road trip - and having fun too.

But I don't have access to my photos - and meant to post this early so it would be up today, but Thursday, when we left, the internet was down!!

Alas, no photos - but we can still wish a happy day to Sully the Monkey!!  We had so much fun having him and his family here for a visit in June - reminded us all how much fun it is to be around Sully!

Have a great day - and a wonderful year!!  It was a great day when you came - I remember it vividly - and you've lived up to all we could wish for!!

Happy day to Miss Agnes!!

Today is Agnes' 7th birthday - I remember so vividly her birth day!!  I was home with Henry and Calvin waiting for the word from David - and it seemed to take all day!!  Everyone was contacting me too - because they thought it was taking all day too!!

We were delighted to have a little girl in the family - and we continue to be delighted.

Agnes was here for several days in June and we loved it!!

Have a great day Agnes Mae - and a great 7th year too!

July Sunday

Now that Harry and Dawn are back from vacation, Rhoda and Deacon have a chance to play together!!  (Rhoda mostly wanted to take Deacon's binky!)

Dad brought Grandma T. over for dinner.  Dawn was working, so she left early.

Isla enjoyed crawling under the bouncer and hiding!!

Hannah enjoys having the babysitting duty!

While the "big kids" watched Harry Potter!

Happy day to Robbie!

Happy day today to Robbie!!  He's on another continent at the moment - but our wishes are just as sincere - hope he sees this!

We were excited to welcome Robbie and his family into the fold!!  Hannah picked a winner!

And their wedding and reception is still the "talk of the town!!"

Enjoy your day - and we look forward to celebrating with you soon!!

Lazy summer days continue!

The lazy summer days continue - and I love them!!  Time to do things like go and visit Jenny and her new baby boy John Raymond!!  Got to hold him for an hour - what a treat!!  And visit with Jenny - so great to see all the young women from days gone by with their babies - we go way back with Jenny and her family.

And the fun with Rhoda continues - she's such a willing subject when I have my camera in hand.

And lots of fun to have Katie join us for dinner.  I have said it before and I will say it again, but the worst part about having your kids grow up and away is that you don't get to see their friends so much anymore!!

In other venues, I'm busy sewing aprons - trying to "clear the deck" of unfinished projects!!

So I can start some new ones!

Weekend fun!!

We joined up with Bonny and her girls for an afternoon of beach fun - followed by dinner and great conversation at Chez Bolander.  It's always a treat!

Rhoda could be a California Girl!!

4th of July fun in the wading pool.

Good times with Ellen and Sarah - and a 4th of July BBQ with Grandma Mary, Grandma Helen, Donna, Mary, and the Kansas Cousins!!

It's heating up outside - but that won't deter us from our adventure seeking!!

The New "Home, Sweet, Home!"

Grandma's new home looks a lot like her old one!!  We were pleased that the Arcadia Gardens allows you to decorate to your heart's content!

She brought in her own furnishings, but liked their chair better than her old one - so she kept it!

The room is very spacious and airy.  A nice place to come and visit!

Rhoda's regular visits always bring a smile to Grandma's face!!  They seem to communicate on a very basic level!!

Today was Grandma's first day - she had lunch with Frances, me, and Morgan.  Harry joined her for dinner.  For a few days, we will have her old caregivers come in to help with the transition.  But her new caregivers are loving and kind and have come in to get acquainted.

It will be an adjustment, but it will be one that will provide the care and attention that Helen is in need of now.  In the meantime, calls and cards are welcome - although the calls can't start until Saturday, when the phone is installed.  We tried to save her old phone number, but it couldn't be done! If you want her new address and phone number send me an email!
