Today is birthday number 4 for the lovely Miss Isla.

We are going to be telling the story for years to come how she was born while Grandpa and I were in DC for Thanksgiving!!  We might have missed the West Coast fun, but we were following on the iPhones and it was pretty exciting!!

Looking forward to our Grandma's Birthday Sleepover!!

Have a great day Isla!!

Monrovia Ward 75th Reunion!

The format for this reunion was a commemorative Sacrament meeting with a "Linger/Longer" afterwards.  Nine former bishops were in attendance, along with the current bishop, of course.  Bishops Elwell, Burdette, Shorter, Adams, Miller, and Neeley were not able to come.  Bishops who have died were represented by their wives - Sister Menlove, Sister Heslop, and Sister Throckmorton.  The bishops who are not currently ward members each spoke briefly and bore their testimonies.  It worked out well, and no one went way over.  It was a very spiritually fulfilling meeting.

I always think I am catching photos of everyone and everything, but of course I don't!!  Here is Bonny with Wendy Dequer Rider.

A nice snack buffet and a commemorative cake were set up in the patio - the beautiful weather was a sought-after blessing!!  There were sack lunches for the children too - that was my idea!

Harry and Deacon with Brett Bourgeous.  Brett's family was there - lots of Neeleys, Holmes's, Millers, Heslops, Smiths, Guerreros, Harringtons, ad infinitum!!  Many were not able to come - but I'm not sure where we would have put them!

Grandma Helen came too.

Of course we all love to see Polly - who said to say hi to all the other Terrills!

Those Guerrero women are still beauties!!  (As is Bonny - she's a blonde beauty though!)

Cree Kofford with Lance and Wendy.

And I did remember to get a picture taken of myself, so you'd know I was there!!  We had slideshows going on 4 screens with about 50 photos on each.  Some were very vintage - others were from the 90's to the present.  They were a big hit.  There were old Primary scrapbooks, and old programs from previous ward and stake reunions on display.

I'm glad to get it checked off my list of things to do - and I did try, in the midst of monitoring details, to chat with folks.  Billie Hawkes came too and I was sorry she left before I could get a photo.  There was a lot of love going around - the legacy of the Monrovia Ward.

Friday night fun at the Terrill House

Friday was Donna's birthday, so we celebrated with dinner and dessert!!  (and those annoyingly charming singing candles!!)

Happy to have Mom, Harry, and Mary with us.

I was impressed that Donna thought I'd made this cake!! (It was courtesy of Baskin Robbins!)

Harry F. and the grandkids joined us later for cake and good wishes - and treasures from the Grandma's Treasure Box!!

Happy Next Year Ahead Donna!!

A special day for a special woman!!

I am fortunate to have 5 wonderful sisters - and one of them is Donna - and today is her special day!!  I recall the day she was born.  I continue to take credit for her name - the story goes - and it's me telling it - that when we asked Dad what the new baby's name would be, he said they hadn't decided.  So I suggested Donna Jean - because my best friend's older sister was named Donna Jean - and I thought she was very cool.  So I assumed the name was very cool too - and it has stood the test of time!!

Have a great day Donna - and a wonderful year ahead - we love you!!

A Man For All Seasons!!

We have always been grateful that Matt joined our family.  And over the years, we have just become more and more convinced that he is the best!!

Happy day to you Matthew - and all year through!

(Is there some reason why I don't have any "single" shots of our great sons-in-law?  Is it because they are always there, supporting kids and cousins?  Maybe so!)

Another Sunday night leads to Monday!!

We had a fun Grandma's Birthday Sleepover.  Ella made a patchwork quilt for Deacon - she is one speedy little seamstress!!  And a quick study!

We had fun shopping and getting mani/pedis too - forgot to take photos though.  Lunch at Market Grill.  Grandpa was gone for dinner, so we had "breakfast for dinner."  Always a treat - especially the bacon!

And Ella helped me master Powerpoint!!  She's a great little teacher too.

Dawn and Eve were studying YouTube hair styles -  a cute hair "bow!!"

Took Ella home and enjoyed some good time - and good food -  with the Bolanders!!  They are a bevy of beauties!!

Head tilt and all!

Love spending time with our grandkids - they are the best!!

A week in the life of Rhoda Primrose!

The week began with my arrival at Eliza's house after taking the red-eye - a few hours later, after some much-needed sleep - we headed out to DC.   Ida and Lars were pretty excited to meet the lovely Miss Rhoda Primrose.

See Rhoda's tiny little feet!

She is an alert young lady!

Skyping with friends in London.

Daddy's girl!

Grandma's girl too!

Loves those fingers!!

The proud mama!!

Such a sweet little girl!

Hannah stayed busy with some crafts for Thanksgiving.

Matt, Eliza, and family came by on Sunday.

And Eliza brought a delicious dinner!!

Watching Winnie the Pooh.

Getting acquainted with Aunt Eliza.

The East Coast grandkids!

More crafting.

Such a pretty girl!!

Reading with Dad!

Having a little snooze.

It was a full week.  Friends stopped by, bringing gifts and food and other treats.  We watched NetFlix streaming of some great BBC stuff.  We went for Rhoda's first doctor visit.  We walked to the Eastern Market.  Robbie and I conspired to keep Hannah in "resting mode" as much as we could.  I baked, made soup, mac 'n cheese - the grown up kind - we enjoyed eating too!

Robbie and I cleaned house and generally tried to meet Hannah's every need.  I think we did a pretty good job. There was lots of great conversation too!

Sad to be leaving!!  At least we are coming back for Thanksgiving!!

All told, the week was a wonderful one.  It always is - spending time with our children when their children are born is one of the special perks that come with parenthood.

So tomorrow it's back to school!!  Probably won't do a long report on that however!!
