Speaking of bicycles -

I posted this photo on Facebook, but not everyone looks at FB on a regular basis.  We have had this  photo for years - I had it restored over 20 years ago - but am not sure exactly where it is.  So when I found the negative we had had made, I had another photo printed.

The bicycle racer who is exactly in the middle of the 5 bikes is Harry Francis Terrill, the father of Harry Porter Terrill Sr., who is the father of our Harry Porter Terrill Jr. who is the father of Harry Francis Terrill - not Harry Jr. as everyone is wont to call him.

I feel like I explain it all the time - so I'm just explaining it again one more time!!

9 years and counting!!

Melanie in Gone With the Wind said that the best days were the days when babies were born.  And I think she's right.  But I have to add that the days when wonderful couples are joined together forever are the best days too!

Congrats to the happy couple!!

Christmas Day Wrap-up

Christmas morning was a quiet, lazy one for Harry and me.  We slept in until we woke up - what a treat!  We had Helen over for a late breakfast of omelets and toast.  Later we went to Harry and Dawn's for an early dinner, since Harry F. had to work again.  The Honey Baked Ham and Smoked Turkey were great - as you can see by the way Harry W. was diving into his portion!!  Marjorie and Jean did the honors - thanks ladies!!

It has been fun to spend time with Dawn's brother and sister-in-law, Sean and Jean, and we will miss them.  I had a great photo of Marjorie and Helen - and accidentally deleted it.  I am not quite totally savvy with my new camera!!  Like Noah says, however, the events of the season are not over yet!

Noah joined us late - he was truly in the holiday sleeping in mode I guess!  He finally opened his presents - the ones Santa put under our tree - tonight around 8:30!!

Uncle Sean owns the title of "World's Best Uncle" as far at Harry W. and Porter are concerned.  He was an enthusiastic participant in the plane-flying operations.

Practiced a few "action" shots - and the boys quite willingly ran around for me!!

Eve enjoyed being active for me too!

Miss Isla kept right on being charming!  Something she does so well!

And another Christmas joins the history books - we are truly blessed.  And looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend!!  We enjoyed a Skype visit with Phoebe and family this morning - and followed Bonny and Bruce on their snowy drive up to Mammoth - apparently a "white knuckle" drive part of the time.  Assuming Eliza and Hannah had a good day too - Eliza undoubtedly enjoyed a snow day too!

On to Boxing Day!!

Christmas Eve 2012

Noah snagged my new camera and took some photos of the doings at the Christmas Eve dinner tonight.  So I took a photo of him too!  Some of the rest are his efforts.  Everyone who was there didn't get photographed - but that doesn't mean we weren't happy to have everyone there!!  It was a good group.  Sean and Jean, Dawn's brother and sister-in-law were there, as well as Bill and Leilani.  Harry F. had to spend the evening keeping the world safe - we missed him - but plan to enjoy a Christmas day late lunch tomorrow.  Helen is coming for breakfast tomorrow.

Mom, Marjorie and Dawn - enjoying the evening's entertainment.

And that included musical numbers by Eve

and Porter,

with special effects by Harry W!!

It's great to hear the piano played on Christmas Eve!!

In spite of the chill, the outdoors beckoned the hardy ones!

Must be excitement that's keeping him warm!!

You can always find Dawn and Dad in the kitchen - and Isla supervising!!  We had the traditional potato soup and salad and rolls and hot fudge sundaes.  But I think the olives and dill pickles were the big draw!

I enjoyed taking Christmas flowers to Jonah's grave - he has his own little tree too.

I had wanted to go to the midnight showing of Les Miserables - I guess it's a good thing I didn't try to do it with Harry - he put Holiday Inn on - and promptly fell asleep!!

So let me just say, "Happy Christmas to all, and to all a goodnight!"

"Oh, oh, look, look. See Granny Babs take pictures!"

I have wanted a new camera for some time.  Just haven't taken the time to look or talk to anyone about it.

And then lo, and behold, Harry gave me one for our anniversary yesterday.  And I hadn't even hinted!!

Maybe after 45 years I've figured it out!

Don't hint or even ask.

Just believe!

And it will happen!!

BTW - we are enjoying our visit with Matt and Eliza and kids.  They head off for SLC tonight and then we see them again on Friday night.  It's been fun to have them here - a little holiday bonus!!

And Theo lost another tooth - who knew that Eliza would relish the job of tooth-puller so much??

Don't critique my photo skills too closely - I'm just learning - I plan to develop some skills - so watch out!!

Overheard

Yesterday Agnes was helping me clean up the kitchen...here is our conversation.

A- Mom, it would be so hard to be a pioneer.

Ph- Yes,  it was hard.

A- I don't know how Grandma and Grandpa did it!

45 years and counting!!

Okay folks, it's been 45 long wonderful years since this photo was taken - the start of a wonderful life together.

I go to the temple grounds now and see such elaborate photo taking sessions going on.  Harry's brother Jim grabbed my trusty Kodak Brownie and said, "Why don't I get a shot of the two of you in front of the temple?"

Sure glad he did!!

But we'd still be happily married even if there wasn't a photo!

A Wednesday afternoon surprise!!

I was in the main hall about 20 minutes before school got out today - chatting with Mr. Gottstein in fact - and who should appear through the door but Eliza!!  What a treat!  What a nice surpise!

Even better, Matt and the kids were waiting outside in the car!

They are going to the BYU game in San Diego, having a little family vacay there too, coming back here, then going to Utah - and then coming back here again for the New Year's celebration.

The kids enjoyed settling in to my classroom!!

And we've had a lovely evening together.

With the promise of more to come.

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!!

Happy Birthday Scott!!

Happy day to our nephew and cousin Scott!!  I always say it was Scott and Karen who
made me an Aunt - with a Captial A - because it's a really Capital job to have!!

Scott is great - a real leader in the family - we truly appreciate his love and support for the family!!

Have a great day - and wonderful year ahead!!

22 years!!

22 years ago today, the morning dawned cool and a little cloudy.  But the sun came out for the photographs.  I probably post this one every year, but it is my favorite.

Bonny and Bruce were charting new territory for the Terrill family.  When they announced their engagement, Harry stopped me in the kitchen and said, "I'm not sure I'm ready for this."  (We had applauded Bonny's choice of UCSB, thinking that she wouldn't get married so quickly there - as she might do at BYU!)

Just goes to show you that true love will win out over lots of odds!

Also shows that we were wrong about thinking we were not ready.  A great pair like Bonny and Bruce showed us how it was done!!

And we are glad!!

Happy Anniversary you two!!

Hangin' with the sisters!!

The ward Relief Society Christmas party was a fun evening.  In the first place, we were told it was a pajama party - and to come in pajamas.  And they served "breakfast for dinner" which is right up my alley!!
Amber B. serenaded us with some lovely harp music.  Truly angelic.  And her robe was pretty sweet too!

Marjorie and Yvonne - belting out the carols!

There was a white elephant gift exchange too - a rather hilarious event.

Nice way to start the holiday season!!

12-12-12

Bobby is enjoying the distinction today of having his birthday on 12-12-12!!  That won't happen again for many moons!!

And I'm thinking it's kind of pathetic that the only solo photos I have of Bobby are a baby pic - and one when he's leaving on his mission!!

But no matter - he's a great brother - and I'm glad he came into our family.  I even remember his birth - we were always excited to see new babies come into the family - especially at Christmas time - we had a built in baby Jesus for a nativity - not that we ever had nativities - but we were prepared nonetheless!

Have a great day Bobby - and a wonderful year ahead!!
