What we've been up to!

In between episodes of Doc Martin and Downton Abbey - and other activities - not limited to but including a mandated state class for an autism certificate to be added to my credential - we've been a busy duo.

The charming Miss Isla often figures into our lives!! She sees me and says "tic tacs" but I know she doesn't just love me for that!

Fortunately for us, two of Bonny's Little Women have January/February birthdays, so we've had a couple of get togethers of late.

Harry must have taken some coaching from David, since he usually clowns when I suggest he pose for a photo - Dawn said, "I give up."

I think they were waiting for cake here!!

Dad and I have a new calling - Stake Cub Masters - it's tons of fun!! And we get to have wardrobe additions - I'm sure you didn't know you could get such lovely tee shirts at the Scout House - not expensive either, if you know how to "shop the sales!!" Tonight was Blue and Gold - fun and filling!!

Esme - leading the choir - or the chorus anyway - at her family b-day celebration.

The photo does not do justice to this lovely concoction - brownie/frozen ice cream - topped with whipped cream! I was going to pass on the cake - alas, my will-power was overcome - but I did eat a very small piece.

The lilies are out in fine form - so I was able to take a bouquet to Jonah's grave.

Also enjoyed representing the Terrill contingent at Katie's shower - Eliza will be here this weekend for the wedding - congrats to Katie!!

Annika and Ara enjoying the sisterhood.

Also enjoyed a brief visit with Frances when she was here - and enjoyed going out to GH for church with Mom and Donna - and a lovely lunch afterwards - I am not so good about remembering to take photos however.

We keep out of trouble around here.

And we still don't have a dishwasher - that story needs a whole post of its own - but I'm waiting until it is in and operating - don't want to jinx anything!!

Esme moves into the double digits!!

Our lovable Miss Esme moves into the double digits this year! How can this be? I guess it has something to do with time marching on!! We do love this girl - always up for some fun - and loves to learn and help out. Can't ask for much more than that!

Here is Esme with Ella holding her - almost 10 years ago! The little core of Terrill grandkids has grown along with her! (Ara is holding Eve and Henry is in the middle.)

Always a smiling girl!!

Probably a fave photo of mine - Esme kicking back with her dad!

Have a great day Esme - and a wonderful year ahead!

Happy Day to David Lee!!

I am pretty sure I don't have any photos of just David. For one thing, he doesn't like you to take his picture, and he's notoriously uncooperative when you try to do it anyway!!

For another thing, he doesn't sit around in "poseable" moments
- he's usually busily - and happily - engaged in doing something useful or fun or helpful or important!

And that's what we love about David! Like Phoebe, he comes to the party and either gets it going or keeps it going!! Perhaps that's how they ended up together - because they do indeed make a great team.

Have a great day David - and a wonderful year ahead. We are so happy that you are part of our family!!

A great film!!

Kyle McClure came into the lunchroom one day and declared that the film The Artist was "the best movie I've ever seen."

I have to say he was pretty on target! If you haven't seen it, go have a look-see - it is one classy film!!

Clifton news -

These two women have been manning the cafeteria at Clifton since 1986. So that would mean that at least Phoebe, Eliza, Hannah and Noah might recognize them. I'm not really sure how often any of you went to the cafeteria.

The woman on the left is Susan, the cafeteria manager. The woman on the right is Helen, her assistant. She was at work on Friday as always, pleasant and cheerful. And then this morning, when I returned from our 4 day weekend, I heard the news that over the weekend Helen had died! (She had a gall bladder attack that lead to a heart attack. A subsequent heart attack was the cause of death.)

Sudden death strikes hard at most of us. Mario, the custodian, and I were talking about it. He rather wisely said, "I guess you just have to treat everyone real well all the time - in case you don't ever get to see them again."

Life changes, life goes on. We recently had a 6th grade student get hit by a car crossing Huntington Drive near the district offices. She was seriously injured, but she seems to be improving. However, some of the staff members commented that since bad news comes in threes, they are all feeling a little spooked.

I think I will look both ways - and try to treat everyone real well!

BE MINE!!

I'm pretty sure I post this every year - the one Valentine I made all by myself!! It dates to February of 1969 - which makes it - old!! (I still have the sweater from these photos - it's in a box at the shop -along with my BYU sweatshirt and they are also - old!)

I actually like Valentine's day - because I love heart-shaped sugar cookies with pink buttercream frosting and cinnamon sprinkles.

It's been a while since I made them though - and they are not Weight Watcher friendly, so I don't think I will make them anytime soon.

But that does not diminish my love for them.

And I love Harry too - even more than heart-shaped sugar cookies!

"Linking Arms in Friendship"

For the first time in 6 years, I was able to truly enjoy our stake Women's Conference - since I was not in charge!! Everyone said, "How does it feel not to be worrying about all the details?" But frankly, I haven't even been thinking about it - out of sight is truly out of mind, I guess!

It was an inspiring conference, and I enjoyed just hanging out with Mom, Donna and Mary. Dawn was one of the class presenters - and she did a great job!! She had a "warm up" activity that was fun and very effective I thought. She also involved the class members, told some very relevant stories, and gave us lots of food for thought.

They printed this quote in the program. It is from George Eliot, and it has a lot of food for thought also:

"A friend is one to whom one may pour out the contents of one's heart, chaff and grain together, knowing that gentle hands will take and sift it, keep what is worth keeping, and with a breath of kindness, blow the rest away."

Linda Reeves was the keynote speaker - it is always wonderful to visit with and listen to Linda. Suzanne Hix, the new Stake R.S. President, spoke about 3 friends who had made a significant contribution to her life and the direction it took. I enjoyed learning those things about Suzanne.

A nice Saturday morning - the Arcadia Stake Women's Conference is a great tradition - one I am proud to have been part of - and one I look forward to continue participating in!

"Each life that touches ours for good . . .

reflects thine own great mercy, Lord."

It is good to remember sweet baby Jonah.

We are all better people for having known him.

Glad to be in a forever family!

Today is Groundhog's Day - which means that it's Pop's birthday also!! I remember thinking it was pretty nice that Pop's birthday was on a fun kind of holiday. Made it special each year.

As the years go by - and as the folks in the photograph move on - I am even more grateful that the birthday is one we can celebrate with assurance that we will all be together again one day.

Grandpa Terrill was a special man. His last years were a bit sad - he struggled with health and clarity - but he was pretty kind and loving through it all.

Glad to have so many good memories.

If you knew him, think of one of them today. Maybe even share it. If you didn't know him, ask someone who did to share a memory with you!!

One of my favorite memories - the times he would call our house, often confused, but somehow knowing who we were. And he would ask for Harry. And then say, "He's a special man you know."

Always made me smile!

Tooth Fairy

It is so gratifying to see evidence that my children do listen every once in a while to my lectures. A little background: At our house we don't really do allowances. But we do pay the children $2 each day they pack their lunch. I consider it a deal, since school lunch costs $3 and a home lunch is much healthier. Anyway, I explained to the girls that it was their responsibility to keep track of their days and bill me every week or every two weeks, with the dates of lunches included.

So I think it is awesome that Ella took that information and ran with it. Obviously the tooth fairy has been busy, as poor Ella has been neglected. Hopefully that will be remedied soon.

Happy Day to you Senor Karlos!!

Haven't seen or heard from Karl in ages - and I don't have his current address either - so this will be my annual b-day card oh nephew of mine!!

Lots of good memories of times with spent with Karl and his family!! Have a great day and a wonderful year ahead!

It's Greg's birthday today too - so happy day to Mr. Sale - the Honorary Terrill!! Maybe enjoy a bottle of Cran-Peach to celebrate the occasion!
