Getting Ready for the Clayton Reunion

So, in honor of the upcoming Clayton Reunion, I am going post random "Clayton" shots for your viewing pleasure. I am also going to try to do the Facebook thing, so other Clayton relatives can see them too. I will post them here, and at my blog, and will change them daily. There are a lot of pictures to post.

This is Charles and Mary sometime in the early 50's.

Mom is a Stevens, but a Clayton by marriage, of course, so I will be inserting photos of her and her family too. This is the house she lived in before she got married. She lived here with her folks.

And inside this house, here are Grandma and Grandpa Stevens, Uncle Steve and Aunt Dorothy playing cards. The house looks pretty cool to me.

Bobby is the one with the curly hair. The other one is Bill. The partial person you see in the foreground is Richard.

As you can see, Claytons have been playing Scrabble for many years - this is 1968.

This is also 1968 - in our spiffy stripes - everyone was making tee shirts then - Frances made this for Dad.

The baby holding out her hands is my mom!

This is a Christmas time photo - there are bells on the front door - Leslie, Donna, Bobby and David.

A sisters' shot from Mary's wedding - I was pregnant with Phoebe, so that would be 1977.

The caption on the back says, "Me, at Keith's, about 5 months ago!!" (I added the exclamation marks!) Must be the late 30's or early 40's.

Why do old photos hold so much charm? As we were going through boxes of photos, there were many that Mom could not identify. In her defense, after Grandma Connie died, she was given a box of photographs - and many are unknown - but they are still pretty cool. Mom thinks they are mostly my Grandpa Clayton's friends - she said he was pretty social.

But they were great to see - and some of the intriguing ones will get posted too.

Are you getting excited yet??

Happy Day to Annika and Harry Potter!

How do you go from one to five? (In a flash!!)

Here is our Miss Annika Joy - getting ready to go to school even!!

She has a certain look about her that is Bonny reincarnated.

Although Bonny was a bit more docile.

But then, Bonny is the oldest of 4 girls, not the youngest!!

Annika does a good job of letting us know she's there - and just who she is!

You go girl - and show us how it's done!

Have a great day - and a wonderful year ahead!!

Happy Birthday Joy!!

Joy and I go way back - and she has photos to prove it - but she keeps telling me they are in storage somewhere. So until then, I'll keep recycling the few I have!!

The above isn't from "way back" - it's maybe 2006 or so.

But this one does go pretty far back - into the Dark Ages almost!! Horne Hall days at BYU - in the early 60's. A great time to be alive - the stories we can - and do tell - when someone is willing to listen that is!!

Joy is a BFF - before they even had BFF's!!

Enjoy your day and your year - and yes, I will still love you and feed you and do whatever needs doing, "When you're 64!!"

A long time ago, in a galaxy at the Rose Bowl . . .

So, who can identify Bonny and Harry?

Dance Festival 1985

I can identify most, but not all of the others. Extra points for finding Jason Miller!

Happy Birthday Charlie!!

I will say this, Charlie has always had a knack for surrounding himself with good women.

Wouldn't you say so??

Some of them have had more of an influence than others though!!

Have a great day - and a wonderful year!

Happy Day to Rick and Jacob

Trust me, the one in the middle is Jacob!! (A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away!!)

And Rick is the guy on the left!

Happy Day to Rick on the 26th and Jacob on the 27th - and they were born in the same year. I often mix up their birthdays - without a birthday calendar that is!

Have great year you two!

Note:

Since the Terrill blog is going to be full of some upcoming birthday greetings, I did the Sunday Wrap-up on my blog. In case you care!!

Remembering Jim

Today is the 2nd anniversary of Jim's death. It was a summer not to be forgotten - Jim's sudden spiral downward, family gathering, waiting for Agnes to be born, gathering in celebration of his life, coming home to a Clayton reunion - life really does go on.

Weekend Wrap-up

It was Saturday morning - so that meant Saturday Morning Cartoons!! Some things are universal, I guess!

Dad left to work at the temple and Sean, Keli and kids headed for Magic Mountain.

Henry wanted to watch Phantom Menace one more time!! Then we went to Wendy's for lunch - and ran into Dawn and kids, so we got to have another farewell!!

I took Henry to Sister Allen's daughter's place in South Pas - and bid adieu to a wonderful boy - who has brought us a lot of joy these past few days!! But we will be seeing him - and his fam - in a few weeks when we go for the Hood to Coast.

Tonight we went to a Dodger game with the Daines.

Dodgers won too!!

Ginger and I had a great visit in the mix - along with peanuts, popcorn and Dodger Dogs!!

Just as we drove in, Sean and Keli drove up too - they'd enjoyed a fun day at Six Flags.

Next week will be so quiet - wonder what I will do with that??

Note!

Be sure to check Bonny's blog for Cousin Camp photos!

Winding up the week

The day started out with Henry going to work with Dad - he had to wake him from a sound sleep - but Henry was up for it!!

I hadn't realized that Dad was going to be able to take Henry, so I'd planned to take Eve, Porter, Harry, and Henry to breakfast - so we just went anyway!!

I got a chuckle when Porter said the place looked like our church - and Eve agreed!! I asked why, and Eve pointed to the flowers! Since it's mostly me who puts flowers in the chapel, I was a little aghast at the comparison. Just goes to show you how differently kids see things!!

Harry has found a new love in hashbrowns!

Porter addressed the older gentleman next to us as "Mrs. Zerbel!!"

And Eve and I share a love for lots of syrup on our pancakes!!

When he got home from work, I took Henry to Burminco. He has already passed off his tool badge requirement for Wolf with us - now he's got the collection one done too! He repaired the wobbly door hook in the big bathroom for his repair job!

Keli, Sean and kids flew in from Chicago - so Grandma Mary, Donna, Mary, and Dawn and kids joined us for a visit.

We've had a great visit - Keli and fam are a testament to the power of blogging - I have truly come to know and love Keli and her family through reading her blog - and when they came, it felt like I'd been hanging out with them for years!!

Towards the end of the evening, it was a kind of "vegging out" time for everyone.

Although the Clayton girls found joy in the Tinker Toys - anyone else's old toys are new to someone else! Gretta took a particular shine to the Ponies!!

Finally just had to turn out the lights on Henry!!

Harry is at the temple tonight - he's taking Henry to visit Grandma Helen tomorrow - and then I'm taking him back to Sister Allen so they can fly home - we have so enjoyed having him here - what a great little guy - always cheerful and upbeat - even in the face of fatigue!!

At least we can look forward to seeing him in a few weeks when we go for the Hood to Coast.

We've had family coming and going this summer - what a nice way to pass the summer days!

We are truly blessed to be a "forever family!!"

Thursday's Adventures

Henry was up late Wednesday night - reading!! I turned out his light at midnight - and then he was up and at 'em at 7 a.m.!!

But he had plenty of energy for my swimming workout - I wore out before he did!!

He enjoyed watching The Phantom Menace - I was sure he'd fall asleep - but he didn't. After lunch, I suggested he lie down on the couch with The Matchlock Gun - a Newbery winner - and I was sure he'd fall asleep - but he didn't - he finished the book instead!

So we went bowling - I'll bet you guys think I can't bowl - but I got two spares!!

On the way home from bowling, we went to the market - the ride in my hot car - a/c problems - expensive ones too - more on that later - finally put him to sleep. I woke him up to go into the market - and he wanted to sit in the cart - and kept sleeping! Maybe I shouldn't have snapped this photo, but everyone who passed us said something along the lines of "Well, you've really worn out that boy!"

I had to wake him up to get the groceries out of cart - and to load the bags of groceries into the cart - and he was droopy going home, but perked right up when we suggested some Mormon Poker with Noah! He also pretended that he'd repaired Noah's sunglasses with his Harry Potter wand!

Some "Heart and Soul" on the piano - Noah did exhort Henry to keep practicing - told him he was sorry now he hadn't practiced more. We had a great "Barbara Dinner" and then headed to Coldstone's where Henry treated us all to ice cream.

We ate our ice cream with an old friend!! and then headed home.

Dad and Henry caught the Angels' game,

Eve enjoyed the Tinker Toys,

and Dawn and the boys juiced oranges and lemons for a special treat for tomorrow. Her juicer will short out at her house - but not at ours. A mystery for sure - but it's easier to come here to juice things than to try and figure it out!!

We are all ready for beddy!!
