This is the weekend that was!! (again!!)

So, we can wait for me to figure out all the ins and outs on my new computer - or I can just comment on each photo and you can file them chronologically in your brain!!

Hannah got here Wednesday night - just in time for a lovely shower at Dawn and Harry's place - hosted by Sue Cornwall - a wonderful time was had by all!! The food was wonderful - but we knew it would be - great food and Sue Cornwall just go together!

This was the "Clayton" crew that was in attendance - it ws great to see everyone!!

Hannah with Diane, Susie and her friend Sue - Diane made a special trip for the occasion -we were really glad to see her and to meet Susie and her friend.

Theo and Eliza came Thursday a.m. and we had fun getting to know Theo again!!

We enjoyed seeing Pam and Katie at the shower!

Here we start getting out of order - Friday was my birthday, Dawn was working, so those of us who were around went to the Spaghetti Factory for a birthday dinner.

Grandma Terrill made a lovely bride in couture wedding gown of toilet paper!! If my scanner worked, I'd put in the one from years ago at Bonny's shower!

And Ara was a lovely bride too!

Mary joined the wedding dress parade,

as did Katie!

Saturday found us at the temple with Hannah - what a great day - we were especially pleased that Diane and David, Robbie's parents, were able to join us. When we have gone to the temple with each of our daughters, their grooms' parents have joined us - what a nice tradition that has been.

Bruce took this shot, so of course he's not in it!

After dinner Friday night, we came home to enjoy a "Mimi Cake" from Dawn - always a big hit!

Harry was relishing his dinner - Theo was pretty tired - but a good sport about it all!

Dad and Noah enjoying their dinner.

This should be the last shot - Hannah and Robbie with a trunk load of shower gifts - departing Monday a.m.

And the next-to-last shot would be Eliza and Theo at Burbank Airport getting ready to return home.

Another birthday celebration at Bonny and Bruce's on Sunday - 8 of the 11 grandkids were there - I've noticed that we seem to always have 8 there! Hopefully we can get a shot of all 11 of them at the wedding - a shot that will be "current" for about 3 months and then be outdated once more!

We tried for a "group shot" here, but everyone didn't co-operate. The Barbie Jeep was a big hit Sunday afternoon.

A couple of interested drivers!!

After everyone left on Monday, my cleaning gal was there - when she left, it felt a bit melancholy - didn't seem as if anyone had even been there!

So I went to the Mall, of all places!! What was I thinking?? It was crazy - I was ready to pay for valet parking - but that was even full!!

But I did find a spot, and did find a pair of shoes for the wedding - and they are pink!

And that night I babysat for Harry and Dawn so they could celebrate their anniversary - and so ended a long, happy, fun, busy, jam-packed-full weekend!!

(How am I ever going to finish the Anniversary Posts???)

Shower ing Hannah

What an event it was!

The bride to be - but she can't use the towels, and neither can Robbie.

The now traditional gift from Phoebe and Bonny

Grandma - spry as always

Eliza - our visitor from afar

Dawn - excellent hostess

Ara, as a bride

A bit spooky to see my daughter dressed as a bride, albeit one swathed in toilet paper.

Happy 8th Anniversary to Harry and Dawn!!

Looks like Harry and Dawn successfully navigated the infamous "Seven-Year Itch" of cinema fame and now are happily celebrating their 8th anniversary today!!

Here are the "Brothers Terrill" at the Monrovia Reception 8 years ago - I was going to post different shots, but my new printer/scanner is not all hooked up yet - and you certainly don't expect me to figure it out now do you??!!

So we are just going with the tried and true shots I probably posted last year - but hey, you don't look at them on a daily basis, so it's okay to repeat them!

"The Sisters Terrill" back in the day - we'll have to reprise this shot next month - someone remind me!!

Happy Day, Harry and Dawn - enjoy!! (After all, it's a holiday - the whole country is celebrating with you - of course Harry has to work!)

Never to late to wish the birthday boy a happy day!!

Well, we missed the big day - at least in Bloggerville - but we were certainly thinking of our man Henry - who celebrated the big numero siete yesterday!

This was the year Henry was here for his birthday I guess - maybe his 4th or 5th? (Phoebe will tell us, that's for sure!)

It's been a very busy 5 days - and I have barely checked my email, let alone blog anything, but I will get to it soon - lots of pictures to post and tales to regale you all with!!

Meanwhile, we know Henry is having a great time in Idaho - looking forward to a fishing trip with his Grandpa Fillmore - so we will say, "Have a great year Henry!! We love you and are looking forward to seeing you next month!!"

Heeeeennnnnreee!

(that henry was to be interpreted in the manner of that B-52's song)

Happy Birthday to Henry - an awesome nephew!

Happy Day to the Birthday Queen

Happy Birthday Mom (here she is pregnant with ME!). One thing about Babs is her gift for remembering people, especially on their birthdays!

We love you.

Happy Day to Betsy!!

Jacob will probably confirm that I posted this photo last year on Betsy's birthday! But like I've said already - I'm setting up a new computer - and haven't got the printer and scanner working - so we use what we have!!

Hope it's a great day Betsy!!

Happy Birthday Karen!!

As Ricky Ricardo would say, "Let me splain" - I have a new computer - and Harry spent a lot of last night trying to connect the printer. No go so far - so I can't scan photos.

And this was the only shot of Karen I had in my files - well, not the only shot - but I wanted an "older" shot - from when she was young!!

We love Karen - when Harry and I got married, Karen, Scott and baby Doug were the only grandkids - and I loved being an aunt and Karen loved being a niece - so did Scott and I assume Doug did, but he was a baby.

Anyway, Karen holds a special place in my heart - she just warmed right up to me and captured me forever!!

Hope you had a great day!!

Hope that pedicure is still working its magic!

Sad news

Once again death has paid a visit in our lives. As Dad went out this a.m. to go to Ward Council, the neighbor across the street - in the house where Shorts used to live - told us that Lee Grover died yesterday afternoon around 4:30.

I was home most of the day but didn't notice much unusual activity. But I was gone from 3 to about 5. And the rest of the day seemed uneventful too. He was at home when he died though. (Scott had told me last Saturday that his dad was coming home this week.)

I can email you the exact street address if you'd like to send a card.

If 2008 has been marked by anything, it seems that it has been marked by death.

Lee was a fine man and a good neighbor - we will miss him.

wedding week info

So, I'm driving home on June 21st with my friends Hunter and Veronica, and Hunter wanted to go to a Dodger game while we're there. Tuesday and Wednesday nights have some cheap tickets (like 9-11 bucks). So if you're interested let me know and I can work on something.

Sorry that there's event overload for that week! Well, I guess that most people are just doing the concert Monday. But I am trying to be a good hostess. (Plus, Hunter has never been to LA, and we have to show the Texan a good time.)

And Eliza, I'll gladly volunteer to make a Terrill Google calendar... I need to know a little bit more about what people's plans are for the week of the wedding. Here is what I have so far on my own agenda (I apologize in advance for non-immediate family who are reading this, and I guess I could have sent an email instead, but I can always use another reason to post):

Saturday 6/21: I arrive (Eliza and Phoebe, I know you're going to be there earlier... what day?)
Monday 6/23: concert 8 pm
Tuesday 6/24 or Wednesday 6/25: Dodger game for anyone who is interested (tentative)
Thursday 6/26: my friends are planning on going to Disneyland that day, but I'm probably opting out of that one. I'm planning on decorating that day, or tying up other loose ends. And then that night my friend Megan is planning a bachelorette party. So, if any of you are into that kind of thing, or know of a good karaoke bar, let me know.
Friday 6/27: decorate some more. That night we are having the family dinner hosted by Robbie's parents. Location TBA. (We wanted Rudy's but they don't reserve their banquet room during the street fair, saddies.)
Saturday 6/28: the wedding! Sealing is at 10:30, reception is at... I don't remember. 7? Sibs, I'm sure you already know this but there was some confusion among my attendants, just have your kids dress in their matchy clothes for the reception. Pictures will probably be at 5:30 or 6, I'm guessing? I know nothing about the photographer.

Anyway. That's what I have so far. Things like mani/pedis still need to be scheduled in! (Phoebe?) Or facials? (Mom?)

It's going to be a fun week! I will offer free massages to anyone who is feeling stressed out. And a cookie.

So, Christmas came early this year - along with my birthday, anniversary and any other gift-giving occasions for the next decade or so!! (I guess until I need a new car!)

I have truly moved into the world of high tech - at least for me - and Harry F. swears it's easy - he's going to become my tutor!! Dad's a pretty good tutor too, but Harry has mastered many of the features that interest me on his iMac. Dad pretty much figures things out the old-fashioned way - trial and error!

Here is Dad setting up my new iMac - and here I am, blogging about it - while using it!!

Are you ready for this?? Or did you think your old mother was a Luddite or something??

Concert tickets

I bought the tickets yesterday! Mom, Dad, Bonny and Bruce, Phoebe, and Noah all owe me $60 each. You can mail it to me or give it to me over M-Day weekend when I'm there.

Hannah and her friend Veronica are also coming but Hannah bought their tickets since we had more than 8.

So, we'll have a group of 10 and it will be fun! Mark your calendars, Monday, June 23, 8:00 p.m.

Speaking of which I've been meaning to set up a Google calendar for the fam for about a year now. Haven't gotten to that yet. Someday, maybe soon.

Happy Birthday to Dawn!!

So, maybe I used these photos last year. But maybe I didn't.

These are from winter of 1999 - when Harry first started dating Dawn! Here she is on the little Ikea couch that we had - the one with the interchangeable slipcovers!!

And here she is on the couch in her apartment - the couch that is now in their family room.

And I just love this one because Dawn is making such a "Dawn" face, I just have to laugh!

Have a great day Dawn - it was certainly a great day when you joined the family Terrill!!

You've had a birthday, shout hooray.

Happy birthday to Noah today!

I actually remember when Noah was born. Well, I remember walking down the hall of the hospital to visit Mom and Noah. That's about all I remember of that.

Anyway, enjoy the big 21. We are excited to see you next week.

Mother's Day in Monrovia - 2008

If I'd been really on the ball, I would have snapped photos of the vintage cars lined up along Hillcrest for the Annual Monrovia Old Home Tour! But I'm not - so here's a photo of Dad and Greg doing the honors for Mother's Day dinner! (Harry F. had to work!)

I had suggested last week that Dad, Harry, Noah and Greg do the honors for Mother's Day dinner. They did a great job - but I had to sit on my hands and lock myself in a room to keep myself from interfering and telling them how I would do it!

Noah took care of the baked potatoes and baked the rolls - and did a goodly share of childcare too!

Eve and Porter gave the scriptures and talk in Primary to day - and both did a great job!

They did clean-up too - and Dawn had to go to work - or we would probably have had to beat her with a stick to keep her from insisting on doing the honors there!

So, all in all, it was a nice, relaxing and very tasty Mother's Day for both of us.

Happy Mother's Day to a couple of great old gals!

It's good to be at the point where taking your mom out to dinner is the perfect gift! No exchanges necessary!

We went to Kathleen's on North Lake - a great restaurant if you're ever in the neighborhood!

Grandma Terrill informed us that Lorie is getting married in the Logan Temple on August 9th - that was good news!! Grandma Clayton was fishing for ideas for shower gifts for Hannah. Donna and Harry talked shop - at least business anyway.

And I had bread pudding for dessert - and skipped lunch today to save room for the 9 million calories it contained!

And a wonderful time was had by all!!

(P.S. Keli C. had several posts on what she enjoys about being a mother. All I could think of was the one thing I didn't like about being the mother - always having to answer the question "What's for dinner?" and getting groans and complaints when I answered!)

There is lots I love about being a mother though. One thing is that you can understand your own mother better! Another is getting to sit and read stories to your kids. (That's a grandmother perk too, but doesn't happen on a daily basis.) And another is having a brief window of time when you can control what someone wears!!

Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers out there!!

Addendum

Still haven't heard from Bonny, Phoebe, or Mom/Dad about the concert in June (see a few posts down if you missed it). I have a yes from Hannah and Noah and a maybe from Harry.

I'll call you if I don't hear (or I guess read) your response by tonight.

The Lusty (?) Month of May or May is Gray Today!!

So I walked outside this a.m. to get the paper and it was RAINING! - a drizzle true, but it was cold and chilly!! We are used to a Gray May, but it usually burns off by the afternoon.

So, I was taken unawares. I decided to walk to school anyway, using my trusty umbrella, and it was a bit nippy! It didn't warm up at all - in fact, it got chillier!! And the walk home was cold - it did indeed encourage me to "walk briskly however!"

So I tried to capture the grayness of the day - just to give you all a taste of home, as they say. I'm not sure if I did.

But while I was outside snapping photos, I ran into Scott Grover. I don't know if we mentioned it, but his dad had a massive heart attack a week and a half ago. He was home alone and had chest pains, and almost waited too long. He had them for about two hours - when he finally decided to call 911, he had to crawl to the phone! He will be coming home next week.

Keep him in your prayers.
