Ah, memories.
Happy Birthday Henner!

Who needs Hallmark?
The Birthday Queen
And at this posting, I am the recipient of 42 b-day cards - a record for sure - when did I start suspecting that your dad had done a little mailing himself?!
The living room is awash in flowers and cards - well, maybe not awash in flowers - there are 2 arrangements of those - along with the 42 cards spilling over onto the piano!!
What a nice way to usher in a new decade!!
A BIG Happy Birthday
You say it's your birthday!

This is the Bus From Chicago
This is the grandma with boots on her feet, getting ready so she can meet the bus that Mister Gonzago is driving along from Chicago.
This is the subway under the ground that goes along with a loud, loud sound to take the grandma with boots on her feet to the bus station so she can meet the bus that Mister Gonzago is driving along from Chicago.
This is Bill and his mother, too, going to meet the grandma who was in the subway under the ground that went along with a loud, loud sound to take the grandma with boots on her feet to the bus station so she could meet the bus that Mister Gonzago has driven all the way from Chicago.
Hooray for Amazon.com!!!!

Linking 101--or, Eliza's Thoughts at 11 P.M.
If I wanted to link Mom's blog and have the link say "Mom's blog," I'd write this:
[a href="http://grannybabs.blogspot.com"]Mom's blog[/a]
(I had to use [ ] for my example instead of < > because if I didn't, Blogger would think I was trying to use HTML and it would show up as linked words, not as the exact code. Bosh.)
So if I use the real code using the < > the Mom's blog link is now a real live link.
That might have been a confusing explanation. If it helps, for posts, you can just use the earth icon. You can click on the little earth icon (next to the italics icon) in your next post, try linking a word (highlight the word to link, click the earth icon, then type in the URL (Web site address). When linking be sure to include http:// in the URL. Then look at your post after clicking "OK" and it'll show you what the code looks like. To link on comments, you have to type in the code. It's easy to remember once you use it a few times. Remember also that if you don't provide the right HTML code, the link will not work. Just typing in the URL doesn't make it link automatically.
Oh yeah, and if you want to experiment with this kind of thing on your posts, you need to look at the "edit HTML" view, not the "compose" view.
Er...this was a horrible explanation. Maybe it helped somebody...or perhaps, if you're in the "could care less" bracket, you're enjoying lots of salt.
This was kind of a random post. Mostly I'm avoiding going to bed. Saw "Sith" tonight and am a little afraid of having Darth Sidious nightmares.
Happy happy birthday, Grandma dear
I miss her--and Grandma T.--that's what I get for living in Utah. Fortunately Matt's grandma Verla lives close to us, so we get to see her often. Gotta love grandmas.

well...
first off - saw pres. heslop at our chapel session tonight - he gave a very nice talk. i don't think he recognized me when i talked to him afterwards, but a little anonymity is good sometimes.
annika is the champion baby. she has had 2 babysitters in 2 night s nd done great. hopefully she will cooperate for donna on friday.
we are hosting a big shindig for the sorensons tomorrow night - they used to be in our ward and are back for pepperdine graduation. it will be fun to see them. and in keeping with true mormon fashion no one has rsvp'd - so we could have 30 or 60 people - it will rock either way.
annika is getting grumpy - maybe she'll go to sleep now - good night!

pictures and such
also - 59 day left until the publication of harry potter and the half-blood prince. Thought you needed to know that
also - we went out to dinner tonight - allegria - i waxed eloquent on my meal on blogander - and annika did very nicely for our babysitter - there's hope for her yet.
Tomorrow's our day in the temple - we'll see how she does for Bruce.
Had to blog it

That's all. Parents, your kids are getting old. Do you realize how many toddlers will be involved in this year's New Year's party? Last year's babies will be walking. Maybe. Or maybe not. I don't know when babies start walking, actually. Never mind. At any rate, they're still getting old.

At long last
Welp, I invited everybody to join the Terrills photo group at Flickr, so whoever's interested--there you go! Hopefully I didn't make it too complicated with my ueber-detailed instructions. Give me a call or e-mail or whatever if you have questions.
P.S. I "borrowed" this photo from Karl's new blog. Just giving credit where it's due!
Happy blogging!

Run, Hannah, Run!
Anyway, that will give me more time to be support staff for our girl. Congratulations!
That's October 1, 2005, folks.
Last one, I promise!
Anyway, I got the m-w.com Word of the Day email today, and I think that whoever is in charge of putting together the sample sentences has a great sense of humor:
Son of Adam... daughter of Eve
Check out the trailer here... it takes a little while to load, but I think it's worth it!
Not as exciting as cursed raccoons
Anyway, he did give a good talk about being "quick to observe" and the gift of discernment.
Fantastic.

Cursed Racoons!!!!
had a lovely mother's day, by the way. Got my annual nap - it was quite pleasant.
so, bruce and i go to bed and all is quiet. then, i'm laying there thinking "did i close my car door?" so i'm trying to go to sleep and i hear the usual crew of racoons outside and then there is a bit of a tussle and i hear an animal screech. so i get up and look out the window and don't see anything. well, still can't sleep - maybe desperate housewives was just too exciting and i can't settle down - or maybe i did leave the car door open. so i get up to look - it's about midnight now - and sure enough - the door is open and there is a racoon standing by the car. so i go outside hollering and making the alarm go off on the car to scare those four legged spawn of the devil away. bruce very kindly gets up and checks to see if any of them are in the car and closes the door.
sleep fairly well - get up nice and early - load of laundry in the wash, kids getting dressed, i'm making a hot breakfast - i am woman!!! Think i should check the car to see what the racoons got into last night. open the car door - blood - blood - blood. it's on the seats, the gear shift, the console, the car seats, the blankets, the diapers, you name it. i could not believe it. I guess a couple of them started fighting ove r my mother's day treats from the primary, or maybe they both wanted to listen to Harry Potter 5. who knows, who cares.
so i spent the whole day repenting for my folly; taking apart carseats, laundering everything launderable, 409ing every surface. of course it rained so i couldn't take the car to a car wash to get detailed, so i did it myself.
Moral of the story - i'm buying a gun

backbone update
first of all happy mothers day to all. bonny is actually having a sunday afternoon nap as i write. that is about as good as it gets around here.
i've never organized a family activity before. i guess the first thing to do if we're serious about the backbone activity is to pick a date.
i think that sometime in july or early august (i have a race the last weekend of august that i hope to do, and then we're into school, shorter days, st. george, etc.) would be good, but i realize that the summer may already be full for some of you. maybe it could be stuck on to another activity, so that those of you who aren't in LA wouldn't feel pressured to make an extra trip? i assume that a saturday is best, but maybe that doesn't matter. i don't think it matters for our family.
could i get some suggestions or maybe just some comments about dates that may work?
if we can get some dates and a sense of how many can participate then i can figure out the course. we may just do a part of the trail if participation is low, or we can just have harry (the sixty year old) run the first 45 miles and the rest of us can divide up the last few. we may also be able to bring in a bike or two to cover the trail more quickly. i do think that running in pairs, with some overlap, will be much more fun and safe, so also think about some others that would like to participate.
also, a sense of the miles you think you'd be interested covering, and how you'd like to cover them.
hate to make this seem too real, but we need to start if we're going to do it this summer.
This is for all you mothers out there.
Happy Mother's Day to Barb, Bonny, Phoebe, Dawn, and any other mothers who might happen to read this.
I wish you all breakfast in bed. Or...perhaps not. Matt brought me breakfast in bed this morning, actually--even though I'm not really a mother. It was a very nice surprise. I actually ate it at my bedroom desk, because we don't have any trays, and cookie sheets don't quite cut it, but it was still very, very nice! Matt's a regular gourmet cook. Ask him to make you pesto-and-sundried-tomato scrambled eggs sometime. Yum.
Real mothers, I salute you. No really. I've watched you all in action, awed at the patience/clearheadedness/love/creativity/humor you exercise each day, and hope that someday I'll be at least nearly as good at it as you all are.
